Position: VMware Engineer 
Location: Chattanooga, TN 32402 (work is 100% remote)
Duration: 6+ months with possibility of extension

Qualifications:

Education Bachelor's degree in a computer-sciences related field, or equivalent years of experience is required. Equivalent years of experience are determined as one year of technical experience for every year of college requested. 
 
Experience 
•    Five (5) or more years experience in developing, optimizing and supporting a corporate VMWare technical infrastructure required.
•    VMware ESXi 5.1 experience including work with at least two of the following: 
o    Site Recovery Manager (SRM), vCOP and vCloud Director preferred.
o    VMware vSphere 6.7 and 7.0 experience is preferred. 
•    Experience including work with Site Recovery Manager, VROps, vRA, vRO, Insight or vSphere Replication is preferred. 
•    Proven ability to direct networking projects. 
•    Extensive experience in the analysis and design of enterprise networks, as well as in troubleshooting and providing technical support for these systems. 
 
Skills/Certifications 
•    Network-related certifications are a plus. 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
•    VMWare Certified Professional certification is a plus. 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
•    Proven ability to direct enterprise-scale technical projects. 
•    Relevant and specific experience in many or all of the following is a plus: Cisco UCS, TSM Backup solutions, WAN Optimization technologies (Riverbed, etc.), Microsoft Directory Services/ LDAP, Group Policy Object management, Server Hardening, Citrix - Experience with Hyper Converged Infrastructure is a plus 
•    Experience working with MS Windows 2003/2008 Server -Experience working with Microsoft Server 2019 
•    Some experience with most of the following VMware products: VirtualCenter, VMotion, ESX Express, Capacity Planner, P2V Assistant, VMware Converter, VMware IT Service Automation products (Lab Manager, Stage Manager, Lifecycle Manager) and other VMware products is preferred.

Responsibilities:
•    Serves as technical expert in the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of assigned network systems, responsible for their overall security, integrity, and reliability. 
•    Oversees the implementation of network system upgrades and modifications, including planning, testing, scheduling and coordination. Ensures that change management and defined security procedures for all assigned network systems are executed in accordance with WNI policies and procedures. 
•    Minimizes service interruptions through early identification and resolution of problems. Analyzes monitoring and maintenance data and implements changes as required to achieve optimum performance. Makes recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels. 
•    Develops, maintains, and oversees a schedule of system backups and test restorations.  
•    Oversees all support and problem management activities, provides tier-three support and guides less experienced staff in problem resolution. Reviews and analyzes problem-management data, in aggregate, to identify issues and trends directly affecting the quality of services. 
•    Drives the development, implementation, and maintenance of all policies, procedures, and standards pertaining to assigned network services and systems, ensuring their conformance with industry-defined best practices. Maintains accurate and informative operating records, and assists in the production of network systems and services management reports, providing data in prescribed-standard formats as requested. 
•    Oversees projects pertaining to assigned network systems. May serve in the role of project lead, assuming responsibility for oversight of most or all aspects of a project. Undertakes research and/or evaluation projects as assigned, providing formal documentation of findings and conclusions according to established department standards. 
 
- Upgrade/Installation of VMware vCenter Server Appliances 
- Upgrade/Installation of VMware Tools and Virtual Hardware using PowerCLI 
- Upgrade/Installation of VMware ESXi hypervisor using CLI/VUM/KVM 
- Advanced experience in mass deployment of ESXi hosts, Nutanix nodes and UCS Service Profiles 
- Advanced experience utilizing UCS Central and Nutanix Prism for upgrading software and firmware. 
- Advanced experience in vRealize Orchestrator to automate VMware related tasks - Advanced experience scripting in PowerShell, PowerCLI, Java/JavaScript and Python
